Stop the bullets. Kill the gun.
Monday, 20 August 2007

Stop the bullets, kill the gun is a commercial that was put out in the UK by Choice FM and tries to address the growing problem of gun crime that seems to be strongly linked to gangs. It's a simple trick to having a repeating sequence that gets your mind to think about the continuing images. And then all of a sudden you think about something really, really bad.

Wooden Illusion Mirror
Wednesday, 15 August 2007

On first glance the mirror appears to actually reflect whatever is placed in front of it. However, on closer inspection all is revealed to be not as it first seemed. This so-called mirror is actually an art installation made up of hundreds of small wooden squares that are manipulated to reflect the contents of a video camera tha points directly out from the face.

Watch Your (Fo)odometer!
Friday, 27 July 2007

With environmental issues taking centre stage at the moment it may be time to think about the energy it takes to grow, transport and process your food. Of course the one totally unsuprising thing in this video is that cereal has very little nutrition in it, despite what Kellogs would have you believe. I do like Fruit Loops though. Hmmmm...Fruity, sugar, cereal...

Michelle's Cool Dancing Tongue
Friday, 27 July 2007

Michelle's tongue is sort of mesmerising. You don't really want to watch it move and twist but somehow you just can't look away. This is why viral youTube videos get emailed around the world to fellow office workers and your crazy Aunt Betty.

Erik Eck's Kitesurfing Nightmare
Thursday, 26 July 2007

When you watch this video for the first time it looks like some sort of special effect from Hollywood. You see a kitesurfer walk along the beach and then he just gets lifted into the air. And then he really gets lifted into the air. Thank goodness he was able to hook his safety harness in or he would have been dropped to his death for sure.

Texas 'In Demand'
Tuesday, 24 July 2007

Here's the video for the TEXAS song, In Demand. It's a nice love song with a very understated clip starring Sharleen Spiteri and of all people, Alan Rickman. When this came out I was living in the UK and everytime I hear it the song brings back memories of English summer.

Equalibrum - Time Management
Monday, 23 July 2007

To someone who totally lacks any musical ability, like myself, this is pretty nicely done. The DJ behind this video is called Equilibrum and his original objective with this video was simply to showcase his new AKAI MPD24. To me the most amazing thing is that he's able to keep it so smooth in realtime without post editing.

Mark Malkoff visits 171 Starbucks
Sunday, 22 July 2007

This is either really interesting or really stupid depending on your sensibilities. Mark Malkoff is an amateur filmmaker who decided to try to visit every single Starbucks in Manhattan in one single day. And to prove it, he decided to buy an item of food or drink from every one of the 171 Starbucks on his list. Did he succeed? And how much did he spend? Watch this video to find out.

How To Make Homemade Pasta
Saturday, 21 July 2007

This is one of those videos that makes you want to just get your hands dirty and get back to the essence of food. I don't know about you but I seem to eat way too much takeaway food and miss real unprocessed ingredients. But convenience rules our lives so we go with the easiest and quickest things. It's a shame because this pasta looks really good.

Robot Chicken 'The Ring'
Friday, 20 July 2007

Robot Chicken is funny. And the Japanese Ringu Trilogy is not. But damn if they don't take this scary concept and make it ridiculous and American.
