If you've seen the Nicholas Cage remake of 'Gone in Sixty Seconds' then you'll remember this song. 'Low Rider' was released in 1975 by the group WAR and reached number one on the Billboard R&B charts of that year. Since that time it has been covered by such diverse artists as Cypress Hill and Barry White. It's also been featured in ten motion pictures including 'A Knight's Tale' and 'Dazed and Confused'.

Michel Gondry is probably most well known at the moment for his Charlie Kaufman adaptation of 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', here he is talking to the excellent English film critic Mark Kermode. They talk about his earlier work in music videos and his collaboration with Bjork. They also discuss his latest film, 'The Science of Sleep'. If you like good film then this is a nice little interview.
Here's the trailer for 'The Science of Sleep' to accompany the dicussion.

Here's an excellent animated short that has a stumpy CGI Batman bouncing around Gotham seeking answers. Who knows why it was made, all I care about is when Chapter 2 is coming out. Small episodes like this work particularly well on YouTube and I hope this guy gains a large audience for this polished storytelling.

This is a heartwarming tale about a young boy and his giant 20 foot python. The audio is a bit dodgy so make sure you have the sound up high and watch closely for the warm hug that the boy and snake share together at the end. It brings a small tear to the eye.

If you watch 'Scrubs' at all you'll know that Dr. Cox seems to call JD a lot of girl's names. How many you ask? Well it would seem like quite a lot if this is any indication. And supposedly this is just from seasons 4 and 5. So if you were a completist I'm sure you could find dozens more. But I would laugh at you if you did that.

From what I've heard about 'Blades of Glory' this interview is many times funnier than the actual film. Will Ferrell and Jon Heder are good comedians who don't seem to quite know how to deal with the Ninja.

This spoof on 300 is a bit rough round the edges but also funny as hell. I must admit that I hadn't heard of LisaNova before this but I like her take on the over-the-top masculinity of '300'. Her slowmo kick of Xerxes the Fed-Ex guy is just classic. And anyone who will dance around a park dressed as a Spartan warrior deserves some credit in my book.
Thanks go out to Didntyouhear for the heads up.

Take an underground hit form the early 90's and remix with visuals for the YouTube generation and this is what you get. 'Television, the drug of a nation' was released by the The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy in 1992. Its strong social views hold true as much today as they ever have. I wonder if in ten years time we'll have 'YouTube, the drug of the Internet' being released as a single.

We've had quite a few slow motion videos on Watch This Vid but this is one of the most visually impressive that I've seen. It depicts a razor sharp Samurai sword being swung through a water balloon in super slow motion. The lighting is excellent and the motion is super smooth. The water droplets just look amazing.

This animation has featured in more than 25 major film festivals around the world. It is both mellow and beautiful and shows the type of interesting and diverse art that can be achieved with modern day computer graphics . At the very least you will have not seen anything like this today. Enjoy.
